The field trial, conducted on <strong>July 9th, 2025<\/strong>, was designed to evaluate the AI framework\u2019s ability to interpret drone behavior based on <strong>elevation<\/strong>, <strong>distance<\/strong>, and <strong>camera orientation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The testing scenario involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Predefined flight elevations<\/strong> (5\u202fm, 10\u202fm, 15\u202fm, 20\u202fm)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>120-meter test path<\/strong> segmented into four measurable zones<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Multiple drone types<\/strong> including DJI Matrice 300RTK, Matrice 30T, and Mavic 3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Multi-camera recording setup<\/strong> (frontal and lateral views)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A custom-built <strong>synchronization light system<\/strong> to ensure frame-accurate alignment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This trial forms the core of our <strong>scenario-based dataset<\/strong>, which is now being used to benchmark recognition performance of the AI4CUAV models, particularly under real-world environmental and lighting conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite early challenges during a failed trial attempt in March 2025 (due to unsynchronized video feeds), the July trial introduced <strong>improved synchronization techniques<\/strong> and demonstrated the feasibility of creating <strong>measurable and repeatable evaluation environments<\/strong> for behavior-aware drone detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcca <strong>What\u2019s Next?<\/strong><br>A follow-up trial is planned for <strong>Rome in October 2025<\/strong>, where <strong>speed variations<\/strong> will be systematically introduced to further analyze dynamic UAV behavior and enhance the robustness of the AI framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned as we continue pushing the boundaries of <strong>trustworthy, interpretable UAV threat detection<\/strong>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the AI4CUAV project\u2019s mission to enhance UAV detection and behavior recognition, a major milestone was reached with the successful execution of a structured drone recognition trial in Moldova.
